Former India captain Virat Kohli ended a century’s long wait in international cricket when he beat a career-best unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan in the Super 4 stage of the recently concluded Asia Cup. He also finished the tournament as the top goer, also scoring two half-centuries in the tournament, signaling a much-anticipated return to form.
As a result of his exploits, Kohli has risen to 15th in the latest T20I ranking.
Kohli scored his first international century in nearly three years, scoring an impressive 276 runs at the Asian Cup. Thanks to his efforts, he improved a total of 14 spots to 15th in the T20I batter’s overall standings.
The other cricketer to make a splash in the latest rankings is Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka, whose player of the tournament efforts helped the islanders claim the title. His spectacular showing, with 9 wickets in the tournament and three only in the final, helped him three places to sixth in the bowler’s ranking and seven places to fourth in the all-rounder list.
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is the new number 1 ranked T20I all-rounder after overtaking Afghan veteran Mohammad Nabi after the Asian Cup.
Suryakumar Yadav of India remains the lone batter in the top 10 and retained his 4th spot.
