Vinesh Phogat wins bronze in World Wrestling Championships | More sports News

BELGRADE: Vinesh Phogat Wednesday became the first Indian female wrestler to win two medals at the World’s Championships as she clinched bronze in 53kg beating Emma Jonna Malmgren from Sweden here.
Vinesh, 28, had also won a bronze medal at the 2019 edition in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
It was a remarkable comeback for Vinesh after her shock loss in the qualifying round as she beat Malmgren 8-0 in the bronze medal round.

She had reached the bronze medal play-off in the repechage after losing to Khulan Batkhuyag of Mongolia, silver medalist of the 2022 Asian championships, in her first fight on Tuesday.
Three-time Commonwealth Games champion Vinesh qualified for the repechage after Batkhuyag reached the final.
In the repechage round, Vinesh first defeated Zhuldyz Eshimova of Kazakhstan in a Victory by Fall (4-0) decision and then won the next bout after her opponent Leyla Gurbanova of Azerbaijan failed to show up due to injury to qualify for the bronze medal round. .
