Twitter Reacts As Jhulan Goswami Bids Farewell To International Cricket

The Indian cricket club said goodbye to Indian pace legend Jhulan Goswami via social media after the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s, which was its last international match. Many cricketers and board members took to Twitter on Saturday to say goodbye to Jhulan and congratulate her on her storied career.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Women said goodbye to the legendary bowler on Twitter.

“Records galore A legacy to be proud of Thank you @JhulanG10 #TeamIndia,” BCCI Women tweeted.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also said goodbye to the pace legend, saying she will be a role model for female players in the coming years.

“A fantastic career… fitting it ended on a winning note… and she left with a good run individually… will continue to be a role model for the female players @JhulanG10 @BCCI for decades to come,” Ganguly tweeted.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also thanked the bowler for inspiring the next generation of cricketers and for serving Indian cricket with unparalleled dedication and determination for two decades.

“The greatest and most successful fast bowler in women’s cricket is retiring from international cricket after two decades of unparalleled dedication and determination to the game. Congratulations @JhulanG10 on a phenomenal career with #TeamIndia. Thank you for inspiring the next generation of cricketers,” tweeted shah.

Many Indian cricketers also congratulated Jhulan on a storied career and gave her wishes for the next stage of her life.

Former Indian batter Mithali Raj said Jhulan’s longevity as a fast bowler is beyond belief.

“Her longevity as a fast bowler in women’s cricket is unbelievable. We’ve played together since our Under-19 days and @JhulanG10’s dedication to the game and her undying optimism are lessons for all. The Indian jersey will miss you. Best wishes for your future endeavors, Jhulu,” Mithali tweeted.

Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya said goodbye to the legend, tweeting: “Congratulations on a glorious career @JhulanG10 What an inspiration to the entire nation with all your achievements. Wishing you a happy retirement.”

Indian opener KL Rahul said that Jhulan is “one of the greatest ever to play the sport.”

Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar wrote: “Thank you for all you have done for Indian cricket. Congratulations on your amazing career @JhulanG10.”

Goswami finished with 44 wickets in 12 Tests, 255 wickets in 204 ODIs and 56 wickets in 68 T20Is.

Renuka Singh’s four wickets, Rajeshwari Gayakwad’s two-wicket haul and an all-round effort by Women in Blue helped India give Jhulan Goswami a series-winning farewell as they bundled hosts for 153 in the third ODI against England at Lord’s ground on Saturday, winning the match with 16 runs.
