yum: A 100-bed hostels for girls’ studies has been operationalized by the Tribal Affairs Department (TAD) in Jammu and was dedicated to the students by Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary here on Monday.
On that occasion, Dr. Shahid also had extensive discussions with students about career planning.
In response to the demands of the students at the new hostel, Dr. Shahid approved the delivery of one bus for the hostel students and also informed that WiFi facilities, CCTV cameras and library facilities will also be provided in the hostel soon.
The students were also given computer tabs with preloaded educational content. Furthermore, Dr. Shahid know that a PG girls hostel in Srinagar will also be established soon in the same style.
In such hostels, the Tribal Deptt also provides sports facilities, extracurricular opportunities, skills courses, exposure visits and other facilities for holistic educational development of students. In addition to regular career counseling sessions, there will also be organized to raise students’ awareness of the various opportunities available for higher education, including competitive scholarships and grants.
The hostel can accommodate 100 girl students enrolled in postgraduate courses at universities and colleges and these enrolled students also receive scholarships and higher diet rates have been requested.
It is pertinent to mention there that of the 25 hostels recently started by the department, one girls PG Hostel each has been approved for Jammu and Srinagar for which land has been set aside and funds released to DCs for the implementation of the project.
