Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav played a match-winning 76-run knockout in the third T20I against the West Indies on Tuesday, at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts. After helping Team India take a 2-1 lead in the run of five games, Suryakumar showed a sweet gesture to his supporters that took the internet by storm. The BCCI posted a video of the batter on Twitter, appreciating his fans in the crowd by shaking hands and signing autographs.

The video also featured some fans taking selfies with Suryakumar.

“Match-winning knock Heartwarming gesture @surya_14kumar appreciates the support of the fans after #TeamIndia’s victory in the third T20I!” tweeted BCCI.

“Really happy with the way it went. It was important for someone to skip 15-17 after Rohit went back in. We saw what happened in the second innings yesterday. It was important for someone to go deep hitting and winning the match, that’s what I focused on. I just supported myself and enjoyed it,” Suryakumar said in a post-match presentation after being named Man of the Match.


Leading up to the match, Team India chased the goal of 165 with one left and seven wickets in hand. Suryakumar Yadav was the star for India with his 76 run knockout, taking the visitors to victory and helping them take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing T20I series.

Both teams will now compete for the fourth T20I on August 6 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.
