Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav shot up two spots in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings and is now second on the charts, behind only Pakistani Mohammad Rizwan. Suryakumar’s recent blitz of 69 of 35 deliveries in the third T20I against Australia meant he rose in the rankings above Pakistani captain Babar Azam and South African Aiden Markram. Previously, Suryakumar had picked Babar to take third in the standings after his 25-ball 46 in the first T20I against Australia, but Babar once again surpassed him after taking a stunning century in the second T20I against England.

Suryakumar fell for a golden duck in the second T20I against Australia, where he also fell under Markam, but he is back in the top three and will now aim for first place, with India taking on South Africa in three T20Is on Wednesday.

Suryakumar came back from his golden duck to knock for centuries as he and Virat Kohli helped India chase 187 in the series decider against Australia.

Kohli also secured a spot to rise above Rahmanullah Gurbaz to 15th in the standings after his 63-run knockout against Australia.

Among the bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dropped one spot to 10th, but Axar Patel, who took eight wickets with a miserly strike rate of 6.30 in the series against Australia, is now up 11 spots to 18th.
