Sri Lanka take out victory parade on open-top bus after Asia Cup 2022 triumph | Cricket News

COLOMBO (Reuters) – Hundreds of fans filled the city streets on Tuesday as Sri Lanka held a victory parade in an open-top bus to celebrate their title triumph at a memorable Asian Cup 2022.
A brilliant half-century of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and flaming spinner spells Wanindu Hasaranga and pacer Pramod Madushan helped Sri Lanka win their sixth Asian Cup title, beating Pakistan by 23 points in the final in Dubai on Sunday.

Sri Lanka pulled off a remarkable comeback from a poor power-play position at bat, with help from Rajapaksa (71*) and Hasaranga (36) to make it 170/6 in 20 overs. In bowling, it was the spells of Wanindu Hasaranga (3/27) and Pramod Madushan (4/34) that helped Sri Lanka seal victory by 23 points, despite a menacing 61 point position between Mohammad Rizwan (55) and Iftikhar Ahmed (32).
Taking to their official Twitter account, Sri Lanka Cricket shared photos of the delighted players traveling in a double-decker bus, with fans congratulating them.

The players also engaged with the crowd and expressed their gratitude for their overwhelming support throughout the national crisis.
