Smriti Mandhana Breaks Big ODI Record Of Mithali Raj, Placed 3rd In Global List

Smriti Mandhana completed 3000 ODI runs in 2nd ODI against England

The batter Smriti Mandhana of the Indian women’s cricket team still has a feather on her cap. The stylish left-handed lead-off hitter became the third Indian woman to reach the 3,000-run milestone in ODI cricket during the second ODI against England on Wednesday.

Mandhana, who had scored a match-winning 91 in the first match of the series, emulated Mithali Raj and current India captain, Harmanpreet Kaur.

She reached the milestone in her 76th innings to become the fastest Indian to the end, beating Mithali’s record 88 innings by a wide margin.

Mandhana is now third in the overall list, behind two Australian stalwarts Belinda Clark (62) and Meg Lanning (64).

Mandhana has been India’s most prolific hitter of all sizes in recent years, eclipsing greats like Mithali and Harmanpreet.

Her opening partnership with the young Shafali Verma has often taken India to big scores.

Mandhana was an integral part of the team that placed second in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup, the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and won the silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
