Liv Morgan has revealed who her wrestling crush was and how they’ve influenced her WWE career since then.
The SmackDown Women’s Champion has made it a mission during her time in WWE to stand out from the rest of the women’s locker room, especially when it comes to her ring attire. In the past, she paid tribute to a number of well-known stars, all added with her signature blue tongue.
Morgan has also often struggled in athletic shoes rather than wrestling shoes and she admitted the reason for that during a performance at the Sneaker Shopping with Complex. She revealed that it was a superstar she had a huge crush on growing up, John Cena.
l I loved John Cena, I thought he was the c*t,” Morgan admitted. “I was so in love with him. He pumped up his little sneakers and I pumped up my sneakers and I didn’t even have pumps. I would just [pretend] to push my little pumps [while watching him on TV]. I thought he was great. He has had an unconscious influence on my career, whether I know it or not. You know, because he wore sneakers for most of his career, so I think maybe it’s something that’s on my mind, and maybe a reason why I like wearing sneakers.
The 28-year-old even confessed to “pumping up” her kicks, despite not being the same Reebok pumps that John Cena famously used for its pomp and circumstance.
Cena’s influence clearly does the trick, as last month Morgan finally realized her dream of becoming WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion after cashing in her newly won Money in the Bank briefcase last month to defeat Ronda Rousey.
Last Saturday, she then successfully defended her title against Rousey at SummerSlam, although the finish came with much controversy and there is speculation that the pair could meet again at Clash at the Castle.
