Rishabh Pant with his ‘dare and courage’ is a must in Indian starting line-up: Adam Gilchrist | Cricket News

DUBAI: For his “courage and audacity”, Rishabh pants should still be part of India’s starting XI in the next T20 World Cupfeels former Australian great Adam Gilchrist.
There has been some debate over which of Pant and Dinesh Karthik should be in the starting lineup, and Gilchrist’s vote of confidence is in favor of the much younger Pant.
“Rishabh Pant’s challenge and the courage in him, the way he tackles bowling attacks, I think he must be a fixture in this Indian roster,” Gilchrist said in an ICC statement.
“They (Karthik and Pant) can play together, but I think Rishabh Pant definitely has to be in there.”
India have included Pant and Karthik in the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia, but the former’s disappointing record in the T20I could go against him.

Pant has 934 carries in 58 T20Is at an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 126.21. But he hasn’t quite enjoyed the success expected of him in this format, unlike in Test cricket where he is already an established star.
Add to that, Karthik has recently flourished as a finisher, which works in his favor.
But just like his former skipper Ricky Ponting, Gilchrist also believes that the two wicketkeeper batters can also start together in the eleven.
“It will be interesting to see if they can both play in the same team. I think they can. What they bring to a team… the versatility of Dinesh Karthik, he can play at the top of the order; he can, as he did later in his career, be in the middle and the end of the game to finish. He has a very good line-in game,” signed the former Australian wicket-keeper.
