India’s women’s cricket team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Australia in the Group A clash of the ongoing Commonwealth Games. India had made a fantastic start in their attempt to defend to 154 when Renuka Singh Thakur took four wickets within five overs, but Ashleigh Gardner held her own hand to help Australia chase the goal with three wickets in hand and one left to to save. However, the match will be remembered for Renuka Singh Thakur’s spell as she returned with figures of 4-18.
Thakur broke the back of the Australian batting lineup when she turned down the likes of Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath. And the ball to fire Tahlia McGrath was an absolute snot. It was a dream inswinger from Renuka as the ball arched big from the outside and McGrath was determined to play the drive.
Therefore, a large gap was left between bat and pad, and the ball continued to rattle the stumps.

Speaking of a match between India and Australia, the former batted first and posted 154/8 in 20 overs as skipper Harmanpreet Kaur knocked out 52 while Shafali Verma came in with 48 runs.
However, India was unable to defend the total as Gardner and Grace Harris had their guts for Australia.
India will face Pakistan in Group A next Sunday.
