England got off to a winning start to their 7-match T20I series against Pakistan as they easily chased the 159-run goal at the National Stadium in Karachi. England captain Moeen Ali’s decision to win the toss and bowl initially didn’t go according to plan, as Pakistani opening duo Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were in complete control.

While Babar played a few strokes of the pen, Rizwan continued to attack the English pacesetters with his all-round play. Things quickly changed with the introduction of spin and it was leg spinner Adil Rashid who brought the visitors back into the game with a delivery that completely bred Babar Azam.

With the score at 85 in the 10th left, Rashid produced a fantastic error that misread Babar and was bowled clean.

The impact of that wicket was immediate as Pakistan subsequently failed to forge a meaningful partnership, eventually working their way to a 158/7 under par in their 20 overs.

Rashid was the star with the ball as he completed his quota of 4 overs with numbers of 2/27.

Medium pacer Luke Wood came back strong and finished with numbers of 3/24.

Alex Hales (53) and Harry Brook (42*) helped England win the match easily.
