Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios received a wildcard for next month’s US Open tune-up event in Cincinnati, Ohio, Western and Southern Open organizers announced on Monday.
For the 27-year-old Australian, who fell two weeks ago to Novak Djokovic in his first Grand Slam singles final, this will be his sixth appearance in Cincinnati and the first since 2019.
The entry list for the Western and Southern Open from August 13-21 includes world number one Daniil Medvedev and former champion Alexander Zverev (2021) – who missed Wimbledon through injury – Grigor Dimitrov (2017), Marin Cilic (2016) and Rafa Nadal (2013).
Two-time champion Novak Djokovic is also on the Cincinnati roster but is unlikely to play due to his refusal to get a COVID-19 shot. Travelers wishing to enter the United States must provide proof of vaccination.
