MP cuts 50% seat fees of private medical colleges on par with government agencies

The Government of Madhya Pradesh has come up with good news for those students who will participate in MP State Combined Counseling 2022 for NEET PG. Madhya Pradesh’s medical education department announces that 50 percent of seats in private medical colleges in the state will have compensation equal to government medical colleges.
In February, Prime Minister Modi announced that 50 percent of seats in private medical institutes would be on par with government agencies. Finally, the MP government has implemented the decision and the Department of Medical Education issued a statement on Tuesday.
In an official notice, the Medical Education Department stated: ”This is for information to all NEET PG 2022 qualified and eligible candidates who intend to participate in MP State Combined NEET PG Counseling 2022, which after the removal of 15% NRA quota seats of the total seats for the admission capacity of the private medical university, admissions for 42.5% of the remaining 85% general pool seats will be equal to the prevailing annual fee of a government college.”
Admission to the remaining 42.5% seats is according to the annual fee set by AFRC (Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee) or MPPURC (Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission), the official circular stated.
According to data submitted by the Minister of Health Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in Lok Sabha, in a written response to a question from Dr. Heena Gavit (BJP) and Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena), there are 612 medical colleges in the country, 322 government and 290 private.
There are nearly 92,000 MBBS seats for the 2022-23 session, of which 48,000 are in government colleges and nearly 44,000 are in private colleges.
Admission to medical colleges will be made through merit. The seats in the government medical colleges take precedence for students, followed by the seats in the private medical colleges (at fees set by the government) and the remaining seats in the private colleges.
