Lewandowski at the double as Barcelona cruise to win over Elche | Football News

BARCELONA: Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski continued his insatiable run in front of goal scoring twice while Memphis Depay also got on the scoresheet as the Catalans secured a struggling 3-0 home win Elche in The league Saturday.
The win took Barca top of the table with 16 points from six games, although Real Madrid, with 15 points, could return to the top if they win at Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Barcelona’s task against the league’s bottom side was made easier when Elche’s centre-back Gonzalo Verdu was sent off in the 14th minute for pulling Lewandowski’s shirt as the striker was about to reach the box.
Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 34th minute, coming deep into the box to hit a cross from Alexander Balde and score for the fifth consecutive game in La Liga.
Memphis scored a magnificent goal to double Barcelona’s lead in the 41st minute as Lewandowski grabbed his second early in the second half, bouncing inside the box after Memphis fought for the ball.
