Harington, known for playing Jon Snow on Game of Thronessaid he is indeed watching House of the Dragoncounting Miguel Sapochnik, who worked as a director on thrones, as the co-showrunner of season one. (HBO recently announced that Sapochnik will not be returning for season two.)
“I really enjoy it,” Harington said. “My friend Miguel is showing it, so I’m really enjoying it. I think they’ve done a fantastic job.”
The Eternals actor continued, “It’s weird to start a whole new show in the same kind of realm and make it their own thing, and I think they really did.”
It should come as no great surprise that Harington still has Westeros in mind. In June, News Kidda exclusively reported that a sequel is set after the events of Game of Thrones was in early development at HBO, with Harington attached to reprise his role as Jon Snow.
In his House of the Dragon review, THR chief television critic Daniel Fienberg wrote in part that the show “feels reverse-engineered to be dedicated” Game of Thrones fans a facsimile of what they loved about the original series.” He added: “It is disturbing to see… House of the Dragon become less distinctive and more obliged to Game of Thrones as it is, when it should be just the opposite.”
