Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel set to return for India’s T20 World Cup campaign: Report | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The pace duo of the right arm of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who missed the 2022 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates through injury, are all set to make a comeback for the Indian campaign during the T20 World Cup campaign in October-November.
A report in Cricbuzz says both point guards have passed their fitness test, which is key in their bid to return to the national team.

“Bumrah and Harshal did not feature in India’s failed Asian Cup campaign due to different injuries – Harshal was out with a side strain and Bumrah had been out of action since July with a back injury. back.
“It has been learned that both have returned to full fitness and have been playing normally at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru recently. Both are believed to have completed rehab,” the report added.
Earlier on August 8, when the Indian squad for the 2022 Asian Cup was announced, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Bumrah and Harshal were at the CNA.
“Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were unavailable for selection due to injuries. They are currently in rehab at NCA Bengaluru.”
With Bumrah and Harshal all set to return to the Indian squad, that means a pacer and a spinner will have to make way to accommodate the fast bowling duo.

Among the leaders, Avesh Khan could be out of the squad while in spinners, leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi could also be out. But the report says the final decision will be made by the selection committee after consultation with the Indian team management.
“There is no immediate information if Mohammad Chamiwhose exclusion from the Asian Cup squad has been widely criticized by pundits and commentators, will be considered.
The coaches, however, will see the progress of Bumrah and Harshal in the upcoming T20I home series against Australia and South Africa. Both will be forced to play the matches against the visiting teams,” the report added.
The report also added that the selection committee could meet on September 15 to select India’s squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia, which starts on October 16 and ends on November 13.
In addition to welcoming Bumrah and Harshal, there will be talking points on the inclusion of Deepak Hooda as well as the requirement for two goalie-beaters in Rishabh Pants and Dinesh Karthik.
“Having had knee surgery recently, Jadeja is clearly out of the picture, which means Axar Patel could keep his spot, but there will be talk about Deepak Hooda and the need for two wicket-keepers – Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. It may not come as a surprise if the two are selected again but, again, it will be a call taken after picking the brains of coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma,” the report concluded.
