The Indian cricket team survived some pressures and won the second ODI against the West Indies in Port of Spain on Sunday. Thanks to that win, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead over the hosts in the three-game streak. With a solid 312 goal, the visitors had dropped to 205 for five in 38.4 overs, but Axar Patel (64*, 35 balls) revived India’s pursuit with his six-hitting prowess to take the visitors home on Sunday with two balls left. Needing six of the last three balls, Patel knocked Kyle Mayers right over the bowlers’ head for a six as India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game streak. Patel hit five sixes and three fours in his unbeaten innings and added 51 from 33 balls with Deepak Hooda (33) to keep India in the hunt.
Following the win, the BCCI uploaded a video showing Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal talking to Patel and Avesh Khan. The three discuss the suspense-filled last few overs and how Patel’s sixes also crossed India.
“I bit all my nails off. The pressure was so great to sit outside. Itna Druk Toh Shaadi Ke Time Nahi Thi“Chahal started the conversation with a gem. Then Patel and Avesh intervened and talked about their strategies while striking.

Speaking after the game, Player of the Match Patel said: “It’s very special, to get it in front of a crucial, series-winning goal is amazing. When I went out I was aiming for 10-11 per over. We thought it was could be done because we have IPL experience.
“We wanted to stay calm and keep an eye on the race. This was special, because this is my first ODI since 2017, even my first 50 came here.”
The Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan also praised the all-rounder exuberantly. “The way Axar played was great. Our domestic and IPL cricket keeps us ready as we play in front of big crowds. As Axar said, he’s done it several times in IPL. That brings a big stage,” he said .
