An Iron Man game is currently in development by EA Motive studios. There is no information on a suspected release date.
It’s been years since Iron Man left the silver screen and fans await another outing from the flying superhero. While Marvel hasn’t announced a new movie starring a new Iron Man yet, a game of the same name is coming out. And this time it won’t be part of an Avengers game – Iron Man is getting its own game, just like the Spiderman series of Insomniac games. The announcement was made recently on social media and an early glimpse has been revealed.
Don’t hold your breath just yet! The project is at a very early stage and EA Motive reveals that the game hasn’t even reached the production stage yet. That’s why it could be a few years before you see Tony Stark don Iron Man’s suit and have you flying around battling villains. Most importantly, the game will have an original story and will be a single-player action-adventure video game.
Iron Man comes to your screens
“We are excited to share that an all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game is now in early development at Motive Studio in Montreal. The team is led by Olivier Proulx, who has experience working on previous Marvel titles such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and is joined by a dedicated team of passionate industry veterans including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau and JF Poirier in the studio,” the official press release says.
The game lets players pass as Iron Man, who has to deal with a story. We wouldn’t be surprised if the game largely resembles Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, or even the Spiderman series. Note that this will be a different game from the Avengers title, which was largely focused on multiplayer experiences and was developed by Square Enix.
What remains to be seen is how well this game does and whether it can take full advantage of the current generation of consoles and gaming PCs.
That’s not all, however. The press release states, “This is an exciting new collaboration between Marvel and Electronic Arts, with Iron Man being the first of several new games.” Does that mean the studio will be building a whole arsenal of MCU-themed movies and coming out with another Avengers title over the years?
