Less than a month before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup, there seems to be some concern for the Indian think-tank as main pacesetter Jasprit Bumrah has been forced to miss another match in the run-up to the tournament. Bumrah was missing from India’s team sheet for the first T20I against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram. The Indian cricket board said he was banned after complaining of back pain.

“Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during the practice session in India on Tuesday. The BCCI medical team assessed him. He has been excluded from the first T20I,” a statement from BCCI said. The same was also tweeted.

Bumrah played the last two games in the T20I series against Australia earlier this month.

He finished with numbers of 1/23 and 0/50 in the two games and looked far from himself.

He had missed India’s terrible Asia Cup campaign because of the injury.

This is not good news for Indian team management as the ‘Men in Blue’ struggle with their death bowling, an area where Bumrah specializes.
