BENGALERU: Ruturaj Gaikwad hit a fine 108 of 127 balls before New Zealand A fought back to dismiss India A for 293 on the first day of the third and final unofficial Test here on Thursday.
Gaikwad, who has hardly played red ball cricket in the last 24 months, showed well on his shot which counted 12 fours and two sixes.
Gaikwad, who played nine T20Is for India, shared a 134-point stand with Upendra Yadav (76) before a slump at bat saw India A knocked out for 293 to 245 for four. Upendra’s effort included nine fours and two sixes.
The home side were eliminated in 86.4 overs with Matthew Fisher taking four wickets for 52 runs in 14 overs. Jacob Duffy and Joe Walker took two wickets each.
India Skipper Priyank Panchal (5) got off lightly while opening partner Abhimanyu Easwaran (38) was unable to continue after settling.
Sarfaraz Khan failed to open his account when Rajat Patidar got 30 out of 52 balls.
The first two games of the three-game series ended in draws.
