Student ticket sales for the first T20 match between India and Australia, which will take place here on September 20, started today at the PCA counters here.

Young cricket fans braved the rain to buy tickets. The allocated lot was completely sold out on opening day today. Long lines of cricket fans witnessed from the ticket counter to the PCA entrance gates. The police were also called in to control the crowd.

PCA officials were not available to tell the exact number of tickets sold today. Sources claimed the ticket counter would also open for a short period tomorrow.

Meanwhile, cricket fans continue to struggle to buy tickets online. On the third consecutive day today, there was a heavy traffic flow at the portal selling tickets online.

On Wednesday, tickets of three denominations – Rs 1,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 – were on sale. The tickets sold out within a few hours. PCA sources claimed nearly 50 percent of tickets have sold out so far.

Oz team to reach here tomorrow

The Australian cricket team will arrive here on September 16 to play their first T20 match against host country India. Shortly after landing, the Australian squad is expected to attend an optional training session at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium here.

The Indian team will arrive here on September 17. The host team will also attend a training session here on the same day of arrival.

“The Australian team will arrive here on a chartered flight on September 16, while the Indian squad will be here on September 17. Both teams will attend practice sessions until September 19,” a PCA spokesperson said.
