Chandigarh:Health Department of Haryana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday with PGIMER Chandigarh to strengthen mental health and addiction services in the state.
Health Minister Anil Vij has said that the Ministry of Health has cooperated with: Department of PsychiatryPGIMER , Chandigarh to a Tele Mental Health Clinics and strengthening mental health and substance abuse treatment in the state. Initially, the Tele Mental Health Clinic will be started as a Hub and Spoke Model at Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantt.
Vij further shared that physicians from the Department of Psychiatry BGA (Hub) will provide additional OPD services once a week, provide psychiatry training to physicians, and also provide teleconsultation services for patients with mental disorders that are difficult to diagnose and treat in the Civil Hospital (Spoke). In the future, the online training of doctors from other districts will also start and more such tele-GGZ clinics will be set up in phases across the country.
The MoU was signed between Dr. Veena Singh, DGHS, Haryana and Dr. Debashish Basu, HOD Psychiatry on behalf of the Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The MoU is valid for five years, according to Vij.
