‘Good Trouble’ Renewed for Season 5 on Freeform – News Kidda

Freeform keeps searching Good problem.

The Disney-backed basic cable network used its platform during the virtual Television Critics Association’s summer press tour to announce a fifth season renewal for the second-longest-running scripted original.

The series, a spin-off of the foster parents, is in the top 10 ad-supported cable dramas of the year among women aged 18-34. From exec producers Joanna Johnson, Christine Sacani, Greg Gugliotta, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Cierra Ramirez, this year’s drama endured the departures of lead actress Maia Mitchell and co-star Beau Mirchoff.

“Freeform is evolving with young adults because we don’t have an age yet — Freeform is an attitude,” said network president Tara Duncan in her opening address on Tuesday. “Series like good problemse – which I am pleased to announce today is being picked up for its fifth season – and our flagship series Grown-ish and more recently Cruel summer, single drunk wife, everything is trash and the come on, our latest series that we are covering today.”

The good problems cast includes former The Fosters star Cierra Ramirez as well as Emma Hunton, Tommy Martinez, Sherry Cola, Zuri Adele and Josh Pence. Johnson serves as showrunner.

In addition to the renewal, Freeform also introduced the cast of the reality series the come on, which follows six disruptors navigating the New York City subway. The cast includes designer Taofeek, international model Fernando Casablancas, rising actor Ben, actress Claude, entertainer Ebon; and photographer Sophia. (Surnames are listed if available.)

“These six creatives come from the center with a vitality and an infectious magnetism,” says Duncan. “They’re pursuing love and art on their own terms, redefining what success means, and I’m so excited that our audience has a front row seat to everything.”
