NEW DELHI: Renowned mental fitness trainer Paddy Upton is ‘excited and privileged’ to join the Indian squad on a short-term deal ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia Later this year.
Upton, who was part of the support staff for India’s 2011 World Cup-winning squad, will join the ODI squad from Wednesday’s third match against West Indies in Port of Spain. It will continue until the end of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
“Excited and privileged to be back in the colors of #TeamIndia alongside longtime colleague, friend and head coach Rahul Dravid. Much of our journey has been thanks to @rajasthanroyals,” said Upton in a tweet.

Upton was first signed by former India coach Gary Kirsten when he took charge of the senior national team in 2008 and they forged a successful partnership until 2011.
Since then, Upton has been linked with various IPL teams and has also worked with Rahul Dravid at Rajasthan Royals.

On Tuesday, Upton was brought back into the national team line-up.
“This is a short-term deal for a period of four months,” a senior BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.
