England captain Heather Knight has been banned from participating in the Commonwealth Games and The Hundred tournaments due to a hip injury. “The England women’s captain Heather Knight has been banned from competing in the Commonwealth Games and The Hundred. The hip injury she sustained in the first T20I against South Africa has not calmed down as expected and Knight will continue to receive treatment.” England Cricket said in a tweet. “Nat Sciver remains the captain of Team England in the Commonwealth Games. No replacement player can be named, so England will compete with a squad of 14,” it added.

England have played two games in the tournament so far and put in a dominant performance. The first match was against Sri Lanka in which they took a comfortable victory by 5 wickets.

In the second game against South Africa, the England team put 167 runs on the board for the Proteas to chase. South Africa were limited to 141 and England won the game by 26 runs.

England’s campaign has been going well so far and they remain one of the favorites to win the tournament. They are second in Group B by four points. They are below New Zealand, who also have four points, but have a better run rate.
