BIRMINGHAM: Gurdeep Singh rounded india bodybuilding campaign with a bronze medal in the +109kg event at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old rookie put in a best effort of 390kg (167kg + 223kg) for a podium finish.

The gold went to Pakistan Muhammad Nooh Butt for his record lift at the Games of 405 kg (173 kg + 232 kg).
from new zealand David Andrew Liti took silver for his effort of 394 kg (170 kg + 224 kg).
Singh didn’t have the best of starts as he missed his first snatch attempt by 167kg. He successfully lifted the weight on his second try. However, he failed in his third attempt at 173 kg.
Going into the clean and jerk in joint third place, Singh started with a 207kg lift.
There were nervous moments for the Indian as he failed his second 215kg clean and jerk attempt.
But Singh raised the bar by eight kilograms and successfully lifted it to register 223 kg.
With Singh’s bronze, India finished their weightlifting campaign with 10 medals – three gold, three silver and four bronze.
