CWG 2022: Tejaswin Shankar wins bronze in men’s high jump | Commonwealth Games 2022 News

BIRMINGHAM: Tejaswin Shankar opened the Indian Athletics team’s medal tally with a bronze medal in the high jump men Commonwealth Games event here on Wednesday.
National record holder Shankar cleared 2.22m to finish third in the event.

Shankar, 23, who was added to the team at the last minute on the orders of Delhi High Courthas a season best of 2.27m and a personal best of 2.29m.
Hamish Kerr from New Zealand took gold while Australia’s Brandon Starc took silver. Both cleared 2.25m but couldn’t get past 2.28m, but the Kiwi won the gold medal on the countdown.
