BIRMINGHAM: best PV of the Indian commuter Sindhu sailed into the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals with a comfortable back-to-back victory over Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul of the Maldives Razzaq at the Commonwealth Games here on Thursday.
It was always going to be a tough task for Fathimath against the two-time Olympic medalist, who bagged the Round of 16 match 21-4 21-11 in just 21 minutes.
Sindhu, the silver medalist of the last edition in singles, barely broke a sweat while playing with her opponent in the first match.

Without taking an aggressive approach, Sindhu edged out the Maldives Shuttle with his all-around game. She mostly used her deceptive shots to rack up points.
In the second match, Fathimath initially produced some resistance and was tied with Sindhu until 9-9 as the Indian mostly gave up points on unforced errors.
But Sindhu regained his composure and caught his breath as he led 11-9.
After the break, it was all Sindhu as she ran away with the game with Razzaq managing just two points, to book her place in the last 16.
