CWG 2022: Boxer Rohit Tokas advances to 67kg quarterfinals | Commonwealth Games 2022 News

BIRMINGHAM: Indian boxer Toka Rohit (67kg) advanced to the quarter-finals in the men’s welterweight division at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old boxer from Delhi picked up a 5-0 win over Alfred Kotey from Ghana.
Playing with an open guard for most of the fight, Tokas spent the first round defending as Kotey took on the role of aggressor. While Kotey landed more shots than Tokas, they weren’t clean and the Indian defended well to claim a 4-1 victory.

In round two, Tokas, making his CWG debut, looked more confident and landed several jabs and right hooks on his opponent to win it as well.
Tokas went wild in the final three minutes as he landed a combination punch on his opponent. Kotey had no answer to the Indian’s assault as all five judges ruled in favor of the latter.
Tokas is just one win away from securing a medal.
