LISBON: Cristiano Ronaldo aims to achieve Euro 2024 and the Portugal and the Manchester United striker says he has no intention of retiring anytime soon.
“My journey isn’t over yet, you’re going to have to put up with ‘Cris’ for a bit longer,” Ronaldo said on Tuesday, after receiving a trophy at the Portuguese Football Federation‘s (FPF) Quinas de Ouro honors Lisbon as the national team’s all-time top scorer.
“I want to be part of the World Cup and the Euros… I feel very motivated. My ambition is great,” said the 37-year-old.
Ronaldo has scored 117 goals in 189 appearances for Portugal and expects to play his 10th major international tournament for his country in Qatar 2022.
The striker’s brace against the Republic of Ireland in September 2021 saw him overtake Iranian great Ali Daei’s 109 goals as the top international scorer.
Ronaldo eventually stayed at Manchester United this summer despite speculation he would change clubs, and although he was benched for Premier League matches, he scored in the team’s last outing against Los Angeles. Moldovan minnows from FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
