Connor Tierney is determined to become the next breakthrough star in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
Tierney hopes to follow in the footsteps of illustrious names like Brock Lesnar, Conor McGregor, Paddy Pimblett and Ronda Rousey all of whom have achieved iconic cult status thanks to their time spent competing on the global stage in the UFC.
Welterweight prospect Tierney, who defeated former MMA fighter Jeremiah Riggs on his BKFC debut in March will face Joe Elmore later this month, knowing a shot at the 165lb belt is not far off.
And if he’s having a good time, sooner or later he wants to be thrown into the deep end.

The ‘Brum Town Bomber’ told GiveMeSport.com exclusively: “After this fight, they have to give it to me.
“Little Palomino will be there because he’s friends with Tyler Goodjohn and he’ll be in his corner. So I’m going to pick him up by his little cornrows and swing him back and forth.
“Then of course fight in Birmingham. That’s another great thing. You know what, I think one or two, maybe two or three big fights, so I make my name big and then go to something like the Nutita Arena in Birmingham.
‘That will be class. Four or five thousand fans, maybe more. I just have to become the next Paddy the Baddy, the next Conor McGregor, I just have to do it barefoot.
“I grew up watching Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey, you know, people like that. So if they can do it, why can’t I?
“I’ve got to become the next big thing in Bareknuckle, and I’m not that far off now, I just have to keep stopping by.”

Tierney, a quantity meter by profession, admits he still can’t believe this is actually happening.
“I’m still pinching myself like I’m looking at that poster and I think this is ridiculous,” he said.
“If someone had told me three years ago that I would be on the undercard with Paige VanZant, Mike Perry and Michael ‘Venom’ Page, I wouldn’t have believed you.
“But now I’m looking at them and I think they might be on my undercard next year. Do you know what I mean? It’s crazy.
“I also think I am the most experienced naked fighter on the map. I also have the best bareknuckle record on the map. And also, I’m the only Brit in the three main battles actually based in bareknuckle.
“So ideally, from the BKFC’s point of view, I’m the main event of the bareknuckle stars.
“Michael ‘Venom’ Page is doing one time, isn’t he, he’s coming over from MMA, he’s doing one time at BKFC, while I’m staying in the sport.
“So I think I’m paving the way for a lot of people. I’ve got a lot of fighters who message me and tell me how I’m doing well and they want to be like me and they want to climb the ladder like I’ve done. Obviously they have a lot to do because I’m just unique!
“But it all looks good, there’s a lot of pressure, but I’m enjoying it.”
Tierney, of course, respects everything Elmore has accomplished in his career, but says he’s going to be a good hiding.
“It’s going to be hard because listen, I know this man I’m fighting,” he added.
‘He’s got a brain like a sieve, you know what I mean? To be honest I don’t think he comes close to the level I am to be honest.
“He’s a bit of an ugly mush. He obviously likes to do a few digs. Not me.
“So at the end of the day he has to understand that I am the most important man and he lives on what he has done before.
“He lost his last fight and that was over 14 months ago and he is 39 years old.
“He’s a nice guy and that mate, but I don’t think he’s all there, and I’ll have to give him crazy.”
Tickets for BKFC’s first-ever European event, headlined by a transatlantic showdown between Michael ‘Venom’ Page and ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry, are on sale now via AXS.com.
