Chandigarh, July 26
The city witnessed 87 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the active caseload to 789. In addition, 80 patients recovered from the disease. The virus has claimed 1,166 lives in the city so far.
The city also witnessed the first death in 150 days on Tuesday. About 70 percent of the deaths during the third wave were people 60 and older. As many as 85 city residents, who were Covid-positive, died in January and February. The increase in the number of cases was fueled by the Omicron variant in the city. Major co-morbidities of the victims were renal disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, hypothyroidism, asthma, acute respiratory distress syndrome, bronchopneumonia and chronic liver disease.
98 contract virus in Panchkula
panchkula: As many as 98 new Covid cases were reported from the district in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 46,337. However, no deaths from the virus were reported on Tuesday. Of the 46,337 cases reported so far from the district, 45,631 patients have been cured. There are 290 active cases in the district. The toll is 416. TNS
132 infected in Mohali dist
mohali: In the past 24 hours, a total of 132 new Covid cases emerged from the district, while 100 patients were cured of the disease. However, no new deaths were reported on Tuesday. Of the total of 98,444 cases reported in the district so far, 96,594 patients have been cured. There are 691 active cases in the district, while the toll stands at 1,159. TNS
17 students, teacher +ve at Kharar school
mohali: Seventeen students and a teacher from Government Senior Secondary School, Teedan, Kharar, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Health officials said 80 more samples were collected on Tuesday, with reports pending.
