The second weekend of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta has arrived, bringing wider access for gamers, as well as more game modes and maps to test out. After a successful but concise first weekend of the beta testing phase of the upcoming Call of Duty game, publisher Infinity Ward has announced that the game is now opening up to a wider gamer base. This means that instead of being just limited to PlayStation users, the beta version of the game will now also be available to play for XBox and PC gamers. Read on to find out what’s new in the game’s second weekend beta.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta Second Weekend
The information was revealed by the official Call of Duty Twitter handle. The tweet announced it will open to everyone, saying “The #MWII beta opens TO EVERYONE TOMORROW”. But that was only half the surprise. To the pleasant surprise of players, Infinity Ward has increased the game modes to seven and Maps to six!
These game modes now include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Prisoner Rescue, Knockout, Search & Destroy, Invasion, and 3rd Person Moshpit.
For the ignorant, Deathmatch divides a group of players into two teams. The goal is to kill players from the opposing team. The first team to reach the score limit, or have the most points when the timer runs out. In Domination, the aim is to collect as many points as possible by conquering territories. Prisoner Rescue is an interesting mode where one team tries to protect hostages while the other tries to capture them. Knockout is a new game mode where two teams of six compete for control of a pack. For Search and Destroy you must either destroy the target with a bomb or kill all the enemy players. Invasion is a huge 20 vs 20 match with AI fighters and you have to reach a certain number of points by killing the bots as well as other players.
Apart from this, the six new cards are Farm 18, Valderas Museum, Mercado Las Armas, Breenbergh Hotel, Sarif Bay and Sa’id. However, the last two maps are ground war only.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 2, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
