The film collected around Rs 36 crore nett across India on day 1, Box Office India reports. The Hindi version collected around Rs 31.5-32 crore nett and other languages added in around Rs 4.50 crore nett. The collections were extraordinary in the subways. This is the highest opening day collection in the history of a non-holiday release for original Hindi content.
The Mumbai circuit hit Rs 10 crore nett, something seen when ‘Sooryavanshi’ came out. The Gujarat collections were also good, but the contribution from Mumbai/Thane and Pune powered by the 3D multiplexes and partial vacation was huge, the report said. The film passed the Rs 10 crore net mark in the south with the Nizam/Andhra circuit garnering Rs 6.50 crore net in Hindi and Telugu. The film also did good business in Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Chandigarh. Numbers from CP Berar, CI, Rajasthan and Bihar were comparatively less but still good with a potential to jump on Sunday.
‘Brahmastra’ also scored huge numbers in overseas markets, with opening days expected to exceed $3 million, including paid previews.
‘Brahmastra’ is part one of the trilogy around Ranbir Kapoor’s character Shiva and Alia Bhatt plays Isha. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy in key roles.
