Bangladesh Announces Squad For ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Shakib Al Hasan To Lead

Bangladesh announced its squad on Wednesday for the upcoming 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, with veteran and former skipper Mahmudullah as a notable omission from the squad. The 15-man squad is led by Shakib Al Hasan. Many Asia Cup squad players such as Parvez Hossain Emon, Anamul Haque, Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Naim will not travel to Australia after a disastrous Asia Cup campaign that saw them leave the tournament in the group stage after losing both matches against Sri lost. Lanka and Afghanistan.

Another name missing from the roster is Mushfiqur Rahim, who recently announced his retirement from the shortest squad following his squad’s departure from the Asian Cup.

Das was unable to play in the Asian Cup after a hamstring injury during the Zimbabwe tour and has now fully recovered. Nurul, who suffered a finger injury, has also made a full recovery.

Soumya Sarkar and Shoriful Islam, who were part of last year’s roster at the 2021 T20 World Cup last year, were only able to reach the standby list along with Rishad Hossain and Shak Mahedi Hasan.

The same team will travel to New Zealand between October 7 and 15 for a tri-series, which will also involve Pakistan.
