Two-time Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi will lead the competition jury for the 2022 Zurich International Film Festival and judge the winners of this year’s Golden Eye awards. Farhadi will collaborate with Swiss director Petra Volpe (The Divine Order) and producer Daniel Dreifuss (noNetflix’s No news from the western front), Swedish producer Peter Gustafsson (Border), and British director Clio Barnard (the arbor, Dark River).
Killer Films’ acclaimed producer, Christine Vachon (Boys do not Cry, far from heaven, I’m not here) will lead the jury for the sidebar of this year’s Focus Competition in Zurich. Swiss documentary filmmaker Fred Baillif (The family), Austrian filmmaker Katharina Mückstein (l’animale), film editor Maria Fantastica Valmori (One more time to the breach) and Swiss journalist and media manager Roger Schawinski, will join Vachon on the Focus jury.
Romanian filmmaker Alexander Nanau, director of the Oscar nominee collective (2019) keep together with . supervising the jury for the Zurich Documentary Film Competition Writing with fire director Sushmit Ghosh, film editor Atanas Georgiev (honeyland), Swiss producer Joëlle Bertossa (Of sheep and men), and Nina Numankadić is the director of documentary festival group Doc Alliance.
Each jury will award a Golden Eye honor for the best film in their respective sections, each of which will be accompanied by a cash grant of $26,000 (CHF 25,000). This year’s winners will be announced on October 1 during the awards ceremony of the Zurich Film Festival at the Zurich Opera House.
