After breaking his 71st century in international cricket, Virat Kohli credited his wife Anushka Sharma for supporting him, especially when things went wrong for the batter. Kohli, who had not scored a century in nearly three years, reached triple digits against Afghanistan in the ongoing Asian Cup. He hit an unbeaten 122 off 61 balls and hit 12 fours and six sixes. Former Pakistani pacesetter Shoaib Akhtar shared his take on Kohli’s post-match quote about his wife Anushka and praised the power couple.
Akhtar labeled Anushka an “iron lady”, while also describing Kohli as the “man of steel”. “Virat Kohli stated in his post-match interview that ‘she’s seen the worst side of me’, vo apni begum ke bare me kost kar rahe the (He was talking about his wife). Hats off to Anushka Sharma, well done! You are an iron lady and he is the man made with steel, Mr. Virat Kohli,” Akhtar said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.
After scoring the ton against Afghanistan, Virat Kohli had said, “And I also kissed my ring during the celebration. You see me standing here because of all the things that have been put into perspective by one person, who got me through all these difficult times – that’s Anushka. This hundred is dedicated to her and also to our little daughter Vamika.”
Kohli’s first T20I tonne took him to 71 International tonnes, the joint second highest, next to the great Ricky Ponting of Australia.

Akhtar further stated that if Kohli manages to match Tendulkar’s record, he will be remembered as the greatest hitter of all time.
“Congratulations, Virat Kohli, you are a man with a lot of guts. Keep growing and you are a very good person. You always support the truth and therefore nothing bad will happen to you in the end. The next 29 centuries will drain you mentally, but you will always be remembered as the greatest in the history of cricket,” he added.
