Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav were the architects of India’s thrilling 187 chase against Australia that sealed the T20I series for them in Hyderabad on Sunday. The two formed a partnership of 104 runs, with Suryakumar crushing 69 of 36 and Virat Kohli India anchoring with his 48-ball 63. After the match, Kohli addressed Suryakumar and said that he has the game for any situation, and that he was the in excellent shape for the past six months.

“It is absolutely clear what he wants to do. He has the game to beat in any situation and under any circumstances,” Kohli said after the game in Hyderabad.

“He has already shown that. In England he reached a hundred. He also hit beautifully in the Asian Cup. Here he was just as good at the ball as I have seen him,” said the former skipper.

“For the past six months he’s been outstanding. It’s just the series of shots, and to play those shots at the right time is such an amazing skill for a man who knows his game through and through and has no fear whatsoever of trying to run those shots.”

India lost their opening prices early after Cameron Green and Tim David sent Australia to 186/7.

But Kohli and Suryakumar batted beautifully to keep India in the lead for most of the chase.

Even when Suryakumar fell, Kohli stayed in the fold until the final was over when he was fired by Daniel Sams.
