3 Lives Destroyed in Panchkula Accidents: News Kidda

Panchkula, July 30

Two accidents in the neighborhood late last night left three people dead and one injured.

In the first accident, two people were killed and another was injured when the motorcycle they were riding hit a truck from behind when the truck driver braked suddenly after turning towards the road between Sector 12A and 14. The injured were taken to Sector 6. Civil Hospital where the doctors pronounced two of them dead on arrival.

The deceased, aged between 30 and 32, have been identified as Rajinder Gupta and Vipul Thakur, both residents of Maheshpur village in Sector 21. The bodies have been kept in the mortuary of the civilian hospital. The injured person, identified as Harsh, was treated in hospital.

An eyewitness, Deepak, a resident of Kundi village in Sector 20, said he was working at an eatery in Mohali and returning from work. While on the Amartex Chowk-Sector 20 road on his motorcycle around 1:30 p.m., he spotted the three youths on a bicycle right in front of him. The rushed truck, coming from the Zirakpur side, braked suddenly after turning into Sector 12A-14. There was no traffic on the road, but the driver braked suddenly anyway. The rider of the bicycle, with two passengers, collided with the vehicle.

People gathered on the spot and informed the police, who arrived quickly. The truck driver fled.

A case has been registered at Sector 14 Police Station.

Mukesh, an acquaintance of Vipul, said the three had their own business. Both deceased were married.

In the second accident, a 35-year-old man was killed when his two-wheeler was hit by a rash car on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar National Highway last night.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Kot.

In a complaint to the police, Rahul Sharma, a resident Indira colony, Mani Majra, said that Ajay was his brother-in-law and that for the past six years he worked as a pharmacist in Shakti Bhawan, Sector 6, Panchkula. Ajay was returning home around 5.30pm yesterday when the recklessly driven car hit his two-wheeler. He was rushed to Civil Hospital, Sector 6, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police have filed a report.

22 year old motorcyclist killed at Dera Bassic

A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed around 10 p.m. last night after being hit by a truck on Barwala road. The deceased, identified as Brij Mohan, a resident of UP, lived in Bhagwanpur village and worked in a welding workshop in Zirakpur. The deceased’s friend, Durgesh, said he was going to Bhagwanpur village along with Brij when the accident happened due to a bad road condition. The truck driver drove off after the mihsap. TNS
